SOURCE TRANSFORMATION:
Voltage
source:
Consider a practical voltage
source shown in the figure having internal resistance Rse connected to the load having resistance RL .Now we can replace voltage
source by equivalent current source .The current delivered in above case Vs
voltage source.
i=Vs/(Rse+RL) ------------1 equation
Current source:
consider an equivalent current
source shown in the figure the total current 'is'
iL=(is*Rsh)/(Rsh+RL) ----------------2eqn
Equating equations 1&2 we get
Vs/(Rse+RL)= (is*Rsh)/(Rsh+RL)
Rse=Rsh
is=(Vs/Rse)
·
If voltage source is converted to current source
then is=(Vs/Rse) with parallel internal
resistance equal to Rse.
·
If current source is converted to voltage source
then Vs=is*Rse with series internal
resistance equal to Rsh.
·
Note the directions of transformed source shown
in the figure a and b.
